Real Madrid women's basketball

This website was born, among many other things, to claim that there is only one Real Madrid, the club with the round shield and the European Cups.
It is always pertinent to remember Juanan's quotes: “There is no Real Madrid for soccer or basketball, there is a Real Madrid. White shirt, a round shield and many European Cups"
And today I am here to write about why we need to reopen the women's basketball section. For the clueless... I say well: reopen.
One from history. Quoting our club website "In 1934 Real Madrid inaugurated a new section, the women's basketball section (...) The Real Madrid women's team won the Castilla Championship in the same season it was founded. In 1943, in addition to the Castilla Championship, it was runner-up of Spain. The section was dissolved in 1944"
And completing with Wikipedia "Years later, the Women's Section lent aid to a new Madrid club, the Madrid Women's Reunited Colleges of Physical Education (CREFF) (...) A new club was born that became strongly linked to Real Madrid CF with the additions of Raimundo Saporta and Ignacio Pinedo under the technical direction It was, unofficially, the white club's women's section, so it began to play its matches in the old Sports City Pavilion of Real Madrid Football Club with a white uniform, characteristic of the entity . (...) From 1960 to 1971 she achieved several regional and national successes, among which nine Spanish Leagues stand out, as well as four Cups and nine appearances in the European Cup»
White shield, Ciudad Deportiva, Raimundo Saporta, European Cup. It is a story to know and claim. (Those who reach this link and have more news, links or bibliography, point it out in comments, it will be very welcome). It is not in vain that the club is still one of the most successful at the national level, with a list of winners only a few years ago equaled by the current most thriving clubs.
We hope that the time this website lasts (which among all readers could be -we hope!- a long time) this section will be recovered. Let's not miss the date with history. There are still few of us who claim this, at the moment. And we know that Real is obliged to create teams that go out to compete and win in Spain and Europe,, and things have to be done slowly and well. But I claim that we live up to history, the current time and our trajectory.
When from the bell tower in the right corner, due to La Masía State of Mind, they sell (they will) that they have once again been pioneers, that we are behind… it is important that we madridistas know that it was our club, in a decade as difficult as those of the 30s, who opted for women's basketball (this photo of 42-43 is glory) and laid the foundations for what was the best team in Spain for many years. And that, in my opinion, should be again.
From time to time news comes out: «Real Madrid's strategy to have a women's basketball section» (2017) and figures «A women's Real Madrid in basketball»: according to the CSD, it is the sport with the most women's licenses: 118,260 and the Last year they grew by 5%. (2019)
And I feel envy, healthy envy, of those girls who now grow up wanting to be Olga or Athenea thanks to the women's football section. And I get excited with each of the walls knocked down by that section. For the history they already make and the history to make. For Zornoza's goal that meant playing the highest European competition. And I dream of it in basketball.
I dream that our club, healthy, a management model, recovers the section. And that thousands (millions) of girls around the world will grow up dreaming that they can play for the club they love, Real Madrid, and travel and evangelize Real Madrid around the world, win titles, do justice for them too.
Returning to Wikipedia, I cite the names of some of the first pioneers: «The players who were part of that team that won the last title of champions of Castilla in the 1942-43 season, was made up of: Loli Rodríguez del Alba, Carmela del Campo, Maruja García San Nicolás, Isabel Belló, Diéguez, Carmela López and Eloísa Bermejo»
For them who paved the way. For the future what will have to be done. Although there are still only a few of us claiming for this request: the history, the memory and the idea remain here: Let's demand that we soon have a Real Madrid Women's Basketball
