Sevilla 2-3 Real Madrid (April 17, 2022) - The Stitch

The trip was a trap, that could not be forgotten.

It is one of those games that Real Madrid has to win (in real play) by 2 or 3 goals. Play at 120%.

And we have won. That no xavineta sells that this league deserves another winner. This is Karim Benzema's La Liga. Real Madrid is a team of challenges and at Pizjuán they had them of all colors, demonstrating a wild mentality: 2-0, destabilizing arbitration, impudent, penalty, goal disallowed, and also -indeed- a good rival... and with the 2-2 Real did not stop and wanted the 2-3. And it had to be Karim, of course.

I don't want to leave even half a paragraph more without leaving here, for anyone who comes to read this in the coming years, that they wanted to rob Real Madrid of La Liga in a wild way, in one of those days not of "microtinglaos" but of MacroTinglao. Like that goal of Gareth Bale disallowed at the Camp Nou. One of those days.

One day our patriotic Calciogate will fall. It's wild. But let's go to the game, because there was football, a lot of football, a great game. To start: the spectacular anthem of the locals, a sign of a big day https://twitter.com/LaLiga/status/1515763917116645381

There was a desire to see what Carlo would do with the lineup, without Casemiro or left backs. Kroos moved to 5, Lucas Vázquez to right and Carvajal to left. Camavinga and Modric inside, plus Valverde on the right.

Carlo didn't get it right, because (this is easy to see later, yes) Kroos is already very far from being able to perform as a 5, arriving late by system in defense... and Rodrygo on the right later destroyed Sevilla.

Even so, Sevilla was more effective than showy. Until 1-0, which was a rude mistake of ours in a free kick, we were even comfortable, there were exchanges of blows, arrivals, the typical of an important game.

In the 18th minute, Sevilla commits an absurd penalty for hands that you have to be very anti-Madrid to not see. About the hands, the basic rule is "what Fouto had said... the opposite". Very clear one.

And moments later we make a fool of ourselves at a barrier, Militao goes off to look for strawberries or something similar, leaving Rakitic (one of our usual vaccinators in the last decade) open space to score the first.

The goal left us in a bad mood, and soon the second arrived, from Lamela. General lack of defensive forcefulness and absence of Casemiro. Kroos, who never corrected those plays, was neither here nor expected. Neither in the first play, nor in the second, nor in the subsequent arrival. Carlo had to delay Camavinga, who still has too much explosiveness to play there. He almost got a expulsion, in fact.

We wrote too much that we missed Militao against Chelsea and today he decided to be in the photos. In the bad photos. Football karma.

Although Torino News headlined at that time that there was a lot of Seville and little Madrid, it was not true at all beyond the scoreboard. Sevilla, in fact, gave away many balls, but in the first half we were very far from our best version. Benzema did not have the lighting. Still.

The first part had been thrown away, another classic. 2-0 temporary that the CM of LaLiga celebrated with a dozen! of consecutive sevillista tweets, another day in the tinglao office.

The hand that you are talking about was not among the tweets, obviously.

But then Rodrygo came out. https://twitter.com/LaLiga/status/1515786922932768771

"Karim does not have the day. Because if we score 2-1 we won this," I tweeted at half time. But I was very short of expectations of the great match that we were going to make in the second half.

Because it would be unfair to stay only in refereeing when the game was so magnificent. The Champions kid Rodrygo's goal gave us confidence. The first quarter of the second half was excellent. Benzema accumulated almost goals, and they were becoming too many almost goals for a guy like Karim.

And the robbery came. One of the most historic that I remember, because the referee went to see it on the screen and he was still touching his biceps. Cuadra Fernández entering the referees' club for the history headed by Ovrebo.

"If they don't give this goal, we have to leave the field in tribute to Monchi", I said and maintained.

The fact is that the VAR wanted to correct the desire to annul Vini's goal that the friend Cuadra had. According to commentators, even the Var jumped onto the stadium screen, generating the hubbub necessary to carry out the robbery.

Butragueño denounced it with his usual forcefulness https://twitter.com/elchiringuitotv/status/1515804312487800855

Good thing I'm not Chendo. Because we would have left the stadium very dignified, but we would have missed everything that happened afterwards.

A magnificent Carvajal appeared, with all his heart, to serve the 2-2 to the recently entered Nacho. Cancel this, Cuadra! I understand the CM... https://twitter.com/realmadrid/status/1515792902693302273 < p style="text-align: justify;">But the game would not end there. In fact, Cuadra Fernández almost have us still playing the discount while waiting for Sevilla to equalize.... because Karim showed up.

There were too many almost from Benzema. A sensational Rodrygo gave it to the guy who gets nervous... https://twitter.com/realmadrid/status/1515795252203950093 Who?

There was still a game to play. Carlo put Mariano in the greenin 94 with a 2-3, in one of those Carlo things that made him impossible not to love.

Mariano almost score even so (he's Mariano) and collected a yellow card. Because the match, which the referee added 7, ended up having 9, for those things of The magic of the Palau, which expands.

The game ended with a foul taken from where it was not, with a request for a local penalty that Carvajal made to the limit. Not because it was, but because of the referee who was on the field.

It does not seem that this can end without the phrase: Cuadra Fernández, annuls the 35th League that is coming

PS: At the press conference, a journalist of the cavernesca asked Carlo... about the possible red card for Camavinga. Undoubtedly the most significant thing of the game.
